My Gender: Male
My Home: Joel's Place, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe
My Story:
Hello, I'm Steven. I'm a very confident boy! They say that I am a really bright kid with a lot of energy. Even though I don't know exactly what that means, I do like to be "on the go" all the time. They also tell me that I can "be a handful". Sometimes all my energy gets me into trouble, even though I don't think I am doing anything wrong.
I can speak English very well and that's why I like school so much. My favorite subjects are writing and English. I like to write about the continents in Social studies class. If you write me a note, and I'm not in time out, I will write back in English! Once school is out you can find me running around on the playground. I like to play baseball, basketball and with the tennis ball. My favorite foods are rice, sausage and palony (pork). My favorite treat is Coke, but they tell me I don't need anymore sugar. I love to sing and my favorite song is "Jesus Loves Me". I know Jesus loves me, so I pray for others and for the sick to be well. When the fun people came from the USA to talk to us about our stories...I did the interview all by myself!
Thanks! Steven
Background:
Steven is a very intelligent boy with a bright smile. He ran away from home and it was later determined that he was being abused there. He has communicated with staff at Mustard Seed Communities Zimbabwe that he does not want to return home. He has been at Joel's Place for since 2010. Zimbabwean Social Welfare is currently investigating his case.
