Brightness

My Birthday: November 5, 2003

My Gender: Female

My Home: Freedom House, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe

My Story:

Hello, my name is Brightness. I attend the Baines Infant School. Now that I am a little older than some of the other kids, I get to learn more subjects in school. My favorite subjects are math, content and English. I love it whenever I get more school books and stationary for my work!

It is exciting when school ends each day because I know I get to play with my sister Progress and brother Joshua and the other children at Freedom House. My favorite thing to play is ball. I know when it is getting close to prayer time because I am anxious to start singing and dancing in church! One of my favorite things for dinner is rice with sausage and salad. When I grow up I would like to be a nun, just like Sister Martina. Thanks for reading!

Thanks, Brightness

Background:

Brightness has a sister, Progress, and brother, Joshua, who also live at Freedom House. Her father disappeared a few years ago and her mother is very poor. Her mother brought all three children to Mustard Seed Communities Zimbabwe because she didn't have the means to care for them. Through the social welfare system, her mother visits the children occasionally and is still hopeful that some day she will be able to provide for them.
